The other day, on the way to the grocery store. As soon as the light turned green, the person behind me was honking their horn. When I got to the grocery store. I was yielding to a pedestrian getting to his car, and a driver felt the need to zoom around me to get a spot. The driver almost ran over the crossing pedestrian. Then inside the grocery store, someone almost ran me over with a shopping cart. Patience was not the theme of the day. Life is a marathon, NOT a sprint. The slower you make it, the more memories you store, and the longer the year will feel. 2025 was a flash, and now it’s in the record books and part of our history. Did you make memories?
Here in the hustle and bustle of Miami – Dade County, we tend to get caught up in the rat race, and have the need to get one car length ahead of the other. What are you really accomplishing? In 2026, I want you to slow things down. I want you to stop and smell the roses. Even notice the honey bee that takes the sweet nectar from it. Enjoy the simple pleasures. Maybe just sit under a tree and collect your thoughts. Because the more sped up your life is, the faster your year will seem. Then what memories did you make?
Say it with me. “Slow and steady, that is my pace. Slow and steady with patience and grace. Slow and steady, at a snails pace. Slow and steady, to outer space.” A snail leaves a track as it slowly climbs up the wall. The snail can always stop and back into its shell to rest and slow things down even more. Did you leave a track in 2025? Will your 2026 be filled with simple memories? Or are you going to just run someone over with your shopping cart? Happy new year everyone, just know it’s going to be a great one.
