Jackie DeShannon said it right. “What the world needs now, is love sweet love. It’s the only thing that there’s just too little of.” All of us here at River Cities Gazette get a chance to do just that, once a month at The Holistic Health Fair. We started off with a bang just about a year ago. Ray Anton and I collaborate with Rob Urbanek and the Greater South Florida Chamber of Commerce. We met Rob inside the Main Ballroom of The Miami Springs Country Club in early 2025. When he was trying to tap into the River Cities community on his own. Ray and I attended the first Holistic Health Fair to report on it. The problem was, the vendors were the only ones there. We were thinking BIG like we always do. So we looked around to see who was in charge, and Rob was pointed out to us. So we introduced ourselves and immediately saw that Rob was as real as they come. A true uniquely authentic individual. We told him that if he collaborated with us. We would properly tap into the community and help make the event a success. The first thing we told him is that the venue needs to change. Then we said, “We have to involve the community.” So we put it into action. We didn’t just say, “that sounds like a good idea.” We applied it, and made it happen.
Now, once a month our event is a HUGE success. We involve our community at the Adult Community Center. We spread love and share positive energy with everyone involved. Love is contagious, smiles spread like a domino effect. And it’s definitely something this world needs more of. So It’s a farmers market type of atmosphere. We have free food available for everyone. Yesterday we had Philly cheese steak subs available made by Patrick Shepherd over at Little Bit of Philly. How bout that for involving the community. We made it entertaining with arts and crafts for the little ones and bingo for all ages provided by Yesenia Velazquez and Healthy Thoughts Craft. Yesterday.. Sunday, February 15th 2026 there was no acception to the rule. We even gave out grand prizes to three lucky bingo winners that really made them smile. They received limited edition, numbered and authenticated, Dan Marino Hall of Fame pin sets. The winners were so happy, as was everyone else. Love was spread throughout the event. Everyone was laughing, clapping and dancing to the rhythm of the beats played in the background.
Back in 2025 when we first started the event, we had the events on Saturdays. We decided to move the Holistic Health Fair to Sundays when the Miami Springs Farmers Market began. Then in May of 2026, when the farmers market ends, we will go back to Saturdays. I just wanted to thank everyone involved and set an example on how to spread love throughout our community. Without maybe or I hope. Without saying that sounds like a good idea, then doing nothing about it. There are sayers and there are doers. No ifs ands or buts about it, we did it. River Cities Gazette and the Greater South Florida Chamber of Commerce now tapping into the community and spreading love properly. Once a month at The Holistic Health Fair inside the Miami Springs Adult Community Center. The next one is Sunday, March 15th. Call me if you would like to set up a booth. (786) 587-3093. We’ll keep you posted. Gotta go.. Love ya.
