On Wednesday, March 18th 2026. The GMAC Student-Leadership Summit took place at the Miami Springs Parks & Recreation Center. Miami Springs resident, Evangeline Odin, a Junior at Miami Springs Senior High School, spearheaded the event through a partnership with Greater Miami Athletic Conference (GMAC) with the support of MDCPS School Board. The motivational seminar brought together top scholar athletes from approximately 40 GMAC schools. The event focused on leadership development. Athletes participated in team building activities and heard from guest speakers from across the community. Student host Evangeline Odin is the founder of EVA: Empowerment Via Athletics, an initiative dedicated to developing the next generation of student athlete leaders. EVA aims to elevate student leadership and create a lasting positive impact across South Florida. Part of the initiative is to form the foundation of the first ever GMAC Student Leadership Committee. This creates a sustainable structure that empowers student athletes to lead with purpose, both on the field and off. Everyone that participated in the event are invited to apply to become part of the first ever GMAC Student Leadership Committee. That is a perfect example of how to be a leader.
