Miami rock band Trance recently celebrated its 30 th anniversary with an emotional concert at Real Café, marking not only three decades of music but also the deeply personal journey of its founder Ernesto Seijas, who left Cuba with his brother Ray in 1994. After enduring the Guantánamo Refugee camp, they carried a shared dream of creating music that speaks to both struggle and celebration.
From those beginnings emerged Trance, a group that has become a cornerstone of South
Florida’s live music scene. Their sound blends rock with touches of pop, jazz, funk, Cuban music, reggae, and other international influences. Over the years, Trance has built not just a loyal following but a true family of musicians and fans united by a shared spirit of resilience and joy.
The current lineup features Ernesto Seijas on lead vocals and bass, Ray Seijas on guitar and vocals, Edwin Fernández – Trance’s only remaining original member alongside Ernesto — on percussion and vocals, joined by Ario León on guitar and vocals, Bernardo Iglesias on keyboards, and Popy Ramos on drums.
Before releasing their debut album Trance in 2005, the band gained early recognition with
singles like “Nunca Imaginé” and “Nadie.” Their second album, Retro (2022), reflects the same enduring spirit and joy that has carried them through three decades of music. Trance continues to play with the same passion that first brought them together — reminding audiences that friendship, resilience, and joy are the heart of the music.
