MSSH VARSITY BASEBALL DISTRICTS 2026

Miami Springs Senior High Baseball never seems to leave us wanting. After a week of
deluge, Hialeah was canceled and Florida Christian (Senior Day) proved disappointing;
as Springs dropped the Regular Season Final by a score of 10-5 on April 10. Four
Pitchers, Eight Errors, Four Hits, and a strong Florida Christian Squad with three
multiple run innings sealed the day. Of note, was a two-run shot by Michael Maiquez in
the sixth, and that was it ! Despite this, that spoiler STILL landed the Hawks in the
District Playoffs WITH Homefield rights @ 12-10-1. These began on April 15 @ Shelly
Dunkel Field with the Slam Academy Titans (In the first game of a twin-bill). The
Golden Hawks prevailed with a 9-1 victory featuring a combined 4 hitter between
Franco Enriquez (WP) and Roy Gutierrez; featuring another HR from Michael Maiquez
and 12 total hits by the Offense. The second game of the double-header witnessed
Immaculata_LaSalle drub J.C. Bermudez 10-5 with a 5 run seventh inning. The Stage
was Set for the District Championship Game the next day !! Manager Corey Estrada
called on his ace Adrian Henriquez to the hill – and that was that; Henriquez did the
rest, shutting out the Royals 8-0, going the distance, allowing 6 scattered hits (two were
infield), and striking out seven enroute. Offensively for the Hawks, Taylor Ancheta
connected in the first with a two-run shot and Esaul Pena followed suit in the fifth. Now,
the Springs seem focused to approach the Regionals on Saturday Evening, April 25 –
on the road at St. Brendans at 7pm. That, after notching their 15 th District
Championship in School History….and a potential repeat trip to the State Championship
come May in Ft. Meyers. Go Figure !! The Gazette will be on it.
