Are you ready for this? In a place where there is always something to do. The River Cities are set to explode over our heads as the July 4th celebrations commence. So wash those red, white and blue outfits. Get those American flag hats ready and stock up on excitement for one of the biggest weekends of the year here. Take a deep breath and imagine how you are going to get to it all.
It starts on Friday afternoon when the Circle in Miami Springs is filled with our treasures from the past at the classic car Show. Circle closes at 3pm. Show starts at 6pm. Then at 8pm. It’s Retro Sky live at Woody’s Backyard Grill (600 Payne Dr. Miami Springs) At the same time, it’s Miami Master DJ Carlos Sonic spinning those classic hits like firecrackers at Hole 19 inside the lovely Miami Springs Country Club till 2am.
The fun begins early on Saturday, July 4th for the historic parade firing like a cannon through Miami Springs. It starts on Westward Drive in the bird section. Heading twords the Circle down Curtiss Pkwy. Passing the wet-zone near the Miami Springs Grace Lutheran Church. The young ones love this part as you don’t need a pool to get soaked with friends and family. So set those alarms earlier than usual and get a good spot early.
Here’s where it gets a little tricky to attend it all. Three events start at noon. Including the Virginia Gardens BBQ at the field next to city hall. The Oleeta West-Dade Masonic Lodge #145 BBQ Competition across from the Miami Springs Middle School. Also at noon is the tater-tot eating competition at Uncle Hanks Hideaway (78 Canal ST. Miami Springs) When I attempt to carry the torch and continue my reign as the defending tater-tot eating champion. Good luck to those competing against me like Miami Springs councilman Joseph Dion. I will NOT be defeated! Then at 4pm it’s the watermelon eating competition at Woody’s Backyard Grill while we listen to the sounds of Coyote in the background. Something tells me the race will be outside on the patio. I’m sure Tony and David, the owners won’t want to be mopping up watermelon juice all night.
8pm at Hole 19 will be Fugas live to warm us up for the mega-fireworks display over the golf course. People will start finding their spot on the golf course. But the fireworks blast off when it gets dark between 9-9:30 pm. These are family events for all ages that bring back treasured memories of the past. The real challenge will be for River Cities Gazette to get to them all to share them with you on our social media pages Facebook & Instagram. So rest up, conserve your energy and get ready for the 4th of July celebration to explode over paradise. Make sure to call 786-587-3093 and tap into the community with social media and website marketing. We can even build you a website or a mobile app for that interaction on the go.
