It was a day to salute those that served our country. As we gathered in ceremony at the Miami Springs War Memorial on Tuesday, November 11th 2025 in the chilly weather. The wind chill factor had us about ten degrees colder. But it was worth it as it gave a chance for our flags to wave even higher. Mayor Walter Fajet hosted the event, and the rest of the Miami Springs city council members were in attendance. As well as the Virginia Gardens mayor Spencer Deno IV and former Miami Springs mayor Maria Puente Mitchell.
My Country, ‘Tis of Thee, sweet land of liberty. The United States of America is what it is today because of the heroes that valiantly served. So we take a day to remember them, with hand shakes, salutes, and flags waving high. There were many veterans in attendance, and there were smiles all around. The Color Guard presented arms and the Miami Springs Police Department as well as the Village of Virginia Gardens Police Department were there to honor our comrades. Even the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts were a part of the ceremony. An event to remember, as we remember those that served the United States military with pride.
