It was Friday, the first day in May, and the flower moon shined bright over the West side of Miami Springs over Woody’s Backyard Grill. It was a micro-moon which means it’s the farthest away it gets from the Earth. But there was nothing micro about Velvet Plush putting on an amazing show. The energy was palpable with smiles and laughter that were contagious spreading through the air. The Woody’s staff was running around like chickens with no heads. You have to give them their props for working so hard to meet the needs of the customers that had that place packed & stacked without a seat available in the house. The band Velvet Plush and lead singer Albert Justo rocked the place to the beat and they did their job well. Albert said ” The energy is different from open mic night which is every Wednesday night at Woody’s. Open mic is more of a laid-back setting, almost like therapy. We get to try different things. When it is our band Velvet Plush. We are on stage, not that it’s more pressure, we just want to put on the best show possible. We try to get together and rehearse as much as possible. So that we don’t make too many mistakes, and put on a great show.” That they did. Coming to you first hand as one of the crowd that absorbed the positive energy. I was laughing, smiling and clapping as it was definitely contagious and that is what you want when you’re watching one of these amazing local bands in the area that we have access to. We are truly blessed to live in a place like this where there is always something going on. This was the place to be that night and if you were lucky enough to be able to attend, you benefited in a major way. A BIG River Cities Gazette thanks goes out to Woody’s Backyard Grill and Velvet Plush for a legendary moonlit night.
